Down in a hole, I gave myself in that prayer so long forgotten
Safe from all that haunts me, moved like a pawn by the greatest of powers
Face me now, the omniscient one
Through the fog of inconsequence
Before my last goodbye
Called you across the years of pain, it’s time
To cleanse and purge this house as the waters rise
Awake in the arms of the abyss I come alive
And shatter the illusions of all that I believe is mine
Head down, I crashed upon my pride
While their sweet surrender perished at my hand
Redemption is lost, sceptics are slaves
There’s no home to call their own
Called you across the years of pain, it’s time
To cleanse and purge this house as the waters rise
Awake in a new point of view I reconcile
And shatter the illusions of the light that I believe is mine
We’re running out of time, running out of time
Pushing towards destruction, for all the rules I’ve bent
We live behind the walls that made us go insane
Deliver my wings, deliver my mirror
Exceed all hope of discovering what lies far beyond my reach
Treasure the day I cauterise
And allow the light spill through
Crying out in a hundred silent ways,
Searching for pieces that may be a home
I'm oblivious to your lightening & thunder
To your cruelty, feel my hurt
Someday I'll find a way out of disorder
Need one last chance to reconnect
Dying to feel her hold of care
One gesture, one glance from her
Will take the weight I’ve come to bear

Spires was stealthy under my radar for a decade but now had a catch up with their fantastically ambitious discography - thanks for such a cool bundle. "A Parting Gift" is a bit more introspective than 2014's "The Whisperer" but in a good way. It's still the winning balance of Extreme Metal (Death/Doom and some Blackened peaks and pits) of the proggy variety with Prog Rock's fusion of ambient and soft acoustic Folk. Great memorable songs wrapped in a polished warm production. Epic and dark! ALPHA-OMEGA
I loved this album since the first time I've heard it. Emotive, dramatic, sad, fulfill feelings, pink Floyd influences are clear although the melancholic and time to time, scarred elements created an obscure atmosphere and an own identity. A masterpiece. Ceff
